Guest Blog- My GOLO Journey

This is my GOLO story so far.......... So, I was always a big girl. After I had kids it just never came off. I always said oh it is baby fat it will fall off eventually but nope it just kept on coming on. I suffer from anxiety and depression so I don't really think that helped much with my weight problems. When my oldest son was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy I was thrown into a horrible depression. All I wanted to do was lay around, eat. and feel sorry for myself. When you hear your only child has a life-threatening disease there is no cure for you kind of lose your mind fo...

Guest Blog- Stairs to Success

There’s no shortcut to success—sometimes you just have to take the stairs. That’s what happened to Karen, an operating room caregiver, after receiving an emergency call two floors above her. When the entire team took off, she was forced to stand by the elevator. As her health declined over the years, she could no longer run up the stairs. “My clothes, my body, my attitude, and my ability to take the stairs—these things told me all I needed to know. After years of scales and weigh-ins and all that, it was more than enough.” She started GOLO in December 2018, not as a New Year’s resoluti...

There are a variety of different styles of yoga a person can practice. One of the most well-known yoga teachers, T. K. V. Real vs. Fake Bone Broth

Bone Broth – What is it and should I use it? You may have heard the hype about bone broth lately as it has been getting lots of media attention. You might have been inclined to try it, or have even started using it regularly. But are you getting the true version with all the health benefits or the commercial version that may not be as good for you? What are clean (in green text) ingredients

What are clean ingredients?

A frequent term you may hear from the GOLO staff is “clean ingredients.” What exactly does this mean? A clean ingredient label is one that has the least amount of ingredients possible. It also means simple ingredients (ones that you can recognize and pronounce). There should be no highly processed ingredients AND the ingredients should be from natural sources. The good news is that GOLO t...

GOLO popcorn graphic

Can you have popcorn on GOLO?

Popcorn is acceptable on GOLO! It is considered a carb so you would want to pair it with a protein (like a handful of nuts) or a fat (1 Tbsp. coconut oil is good or 1 tsp. butter). We suggest air popped and not microwave (lots of nasty chemicals hang out in that bag). The serving size is 1-2 cups popped. Try some of these ideas! Add a dusting of cinnamon for a sweet treat Add olive oil, basil, parsley, garlic powder and Parmesan for an Italian taste Add chili powder for some spice Add nutritional yeast for a cheesy flavor Mix your nuts in with your popcorn to make your own trail m...
