Healthy Hydration

Find delicious ways to hydrate yourself without sugary drinks

Water

Water is by far the healthiest and most essential beverage for overall health. Not only does water help with weight loss by metabolizing stored fat, but it can also boost metabolism, eliminate waste, curb appetite, and reduce water retention.

How much water you drink depends on your activity level, the weather, foods you eat, and your medications. You need enough water to help maintain healthy blood pressure, heart rate, as well as muscle and cognitive functions. You also want to make sure you’re not over-hydrating. Take cues from your body to determine how much you need.

Infused Water

Infused water can help eliminate toxins from your body, give you added energy, and may help alleviate cravings for sugary, processed beverages. Infusing water is a simple process. All you need is fresh produce, herbs or spices, and water! How to make GOLO infused water:

• Choose which fruit, vegetable, or herb to include. One ingredient will do but combining more than one gives your infused water extra flavor.

• Add ingredients to your carafe or pitcher.

• Fill a carafe or pitcher with water. We recommend 4 cups of water for every ½ to 1 cup of produce, but you can add as much water or ingredients as you’d like depending on how strong you want your infused water to be.

• Use a muddler to mash the ingredients to release their flavors. Note, if you want more flavor but don’t want floating bits in your water, try cutting them in half.

• Store your infused water in the fridge for about two hours.

Tea and Coffee

Choose healthy herbal or low-caffeine teas instead of coffee. While coffee has some health benefits, excessive caffeine raises cortisol levels which can sabotage your weight loss efforts. If you drink coffee, limit the amount you drink.
